What is the deadline for entering the 2018 ACBA?

The deadline for entry to the 2018 ACBAs is 11:59pm CST Sunday 25 February 2018. You’ll need to complete a quick registration on the ACBA website before completing your application.

How long does it take to apply for the 2018 ACBA? Is it worth it?

The initial application is extremely quick and straightforward. Simply answer a few questions about your business and tell us why you think you should win the ACBA category for which you’re applying, It shouldn’t take longer than 15 minutes.

The judges will review all entries. Those entries that are considered to meet the criterion of showing excellence and distinctiveness will be invited to submit some further information. The judges will use this additional information to determine which businesses go through to the final stage, an interview with the judges.

How do I choose which ACBA category to enter?

The ACBA categories page outlines the eight categories for 2018. We have ensured a breadth of categories to provide all businesses with an opportunity to demonstrate their excellence. You can actually enter up to three ACBA categories and are encouraged to do so. Entering more than one ACBA category will only increase your chances of winning an award.

Sometimes the judges decide that a business might have a better chance of winning in a different ACBA category from which it originally applied. They will inform businesses when this is the case.

What are the criteria the judges are looking for?

At all stages in the process, the judges for the ACBAs are looking for businesses that demonstrate excellence and distinctiveness within their sector and the category for which they are applying.

Previously referred to as the judging presentation, it is actually more of an opportunity for judges to probe businesses and to identify those that really stand out in their respective category/categories. While it is possible to make a short presentation, it is hoped that most of the time will be spent responding to questions from the judges.

Who can fill in the entry form?

The ACBA entry form can be completed by any person working within the business. This does not need to be the same person who will attend the interview with the judges, should a business reach this stage of the ACBAs.

What if I can’t make it to the judging interview in person?

Finalists will be asked to meet with the judges for a 15-20 minute discussion about their business. These interviews will be held in Shanghai on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April 2018. While it is possible for those unable to attend to join by conference call, the judges have indicated that it is preferable to attend in person.
